Why Couples Counseling?
Whether you are struggling to communicate effectively, feeling criticized or dismissed by your partner, or longing for the trust and safety you once felt in your relationship, couples counseling can be a good option to help you and your spouse rebuild the relationship you both want and deserve.
Who Goes to Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy can be helpful for couples at all stages of the relationship from dating, to being engaged, to those who have been married for many years. Counseling can even be an effective means for parents who are divorced and want to learn how to co-parent and communicate effectively for the benefit of their children. Other couples come to seek guidance and help talking about vulnerable topics in their relationship as a preventative measure to help them maintain the close bond they share.
What To Expect
The process of attending therapy is a journey and one where both parties need to be willing to actively participate to see positive results. The initial session is meant to gain a better understanding of the main issues in the relationship from both partners’ perspectives and discuss your goals for therapy. While most of the time both partners will attend therapy together every week, the second session is split into two individual sessions for the purpose of exploring your family and how past patterns might influence your relationship with one another.
